Save Crumbs For Cooking

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 181 Posts

Instead of throwing away leftover cookie crumbs or leftover pretzel crumbs, use them for a pie crust. Just substitute either of them for the graham cracker crumbs called for in the recipe you use.

Instead of throwing away crumbly muffins or coffee cake, save the crumbles and freeze. When you have enough, they can be used to make a nice bread pudding.

I keep a crumb container, where all sorts go, from the ends of the cereal box, to the few crackers, dried cookies, etc. Use them in stuffing, breading your meat, stick in your meatballs/meatloaf.

Make sure to keep in the fridge or freezer so they don't get real stale or rancid. Make sure to check them occ. for the "gotta toss these". If made with butter, they will rancid.
