Wildlife: Spider Web

I was simply amazed by this gigantic spider web on my porch. Although I marvel in it's "craftsmanship", I do NOT wish to see the spider that created it! :)

The spider was most likely an Orb Weaver. They come out at night and make the webs. Then they go into hiding in the daytime somewhere close to the web. In a knook or cranny. Look out at night and you may see it. They are harmless but can get huge. The problem with them is that if you get too many of them they make a mess of the outside of your house with the webs.

I'm with you, Kim - I always appreciated the artistic symmetry of the webs, but the spiders themselves scared me!
