I got a BAD facial sunburn on Sunday, it's healing and now the skin on my forhead and cheeks is very dry and very tight. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Please help,

If it's blistered i'm sorry to say it's going to peel. There's nothing you can do to prevent it. However, you can disguise the peeling with a lightweight moisturizer. Fragrance free is important to not irritate the burn. Also, you'll want to cleanse with something mild like Cetaphil (generic is ok) which is ph balanced and non-soap.

A cold compress of milk and cucumber soaked washcloth and some ibuprofen will help ease the pain and swelling I'm sure you're experiencing. My sympathies are with you. I too sunburned my face this past weekend (thankfully it was only a mild burn). Chalk it up to spring fever and being too lazy/defiant/ignorant to put on sun screen.

I too recently got my face sunburned. I don't like using sunscreens as they are very greasy - but I should have been using a facial moisturizer with sunscreen. Anyway, I was trying to be careful and stay under a gazebo that has an SPF built into it, but I guess just the few minutes that I was in the sun was enough to get my face burned. My arms and shoulders also got burnt, but they aren't bothering me, just my face it.

As I'm studying to become a beautician, I thought I should start getting into the habit of cleansing and moisturizing my face. I thought that I may have ex-foliated too much and that that was what caused my face to be so red and sore, but then remembering that my face did get sunburnt. I now know that it's the sunburn that's caused my face to be so red and sore. I was using Nivea to wash my face with, but it just stung so bad it wasn't funny. I started using a hydrocortisone cream (1%) and that helped to reduce the redness a bit, but again was stinging at times.

I have now just purchased some L'Oreal for dry and sensitive skin, and it's great. The first wash it stung a tiny tiny bit, but this morning (3rd wash with it since purchasing it), there was NO sting with the cleanser. I got a mild sting from the toner and a mild sting from the moisturizer.. But now I'm noticing my skin is getting tight and wrinkled.

And I come across this posting... So I now know, again, it's definitely the sunburn that's doing this to my face. It feels really uncomfortable, just like I've got a clay mud mask on my face all day! Sorry I can't offer any more advice, but I think it's just something we are going to have to put up with, until it's gone. I doubt you would be left with any scarring. Oh, and I know how weird it looks too... only the bottom half of my face got burnt, so I have a pale forehead, red cheeks nose and chin, and pale neck!

I think from now on, I'll always be wearing a facial moisturizer with an SPF in it! Hope everyone's skin returns to normal soon! I guess we live and learn!

I was just burned while at an amusment park (silly me). I was red... almost purple. I was suffering with pain. I tried aloe with lidocaine and solarcaine and neither really worked for me I was still in a whole world of hurtin. The thing that worked best for me was vinegar... yes... vinegar.

It took the sting out and stopped the burning. It is an old home remedy but it does work. Now here's the catch. Vinegar is has astringent qualities so your gonna have to moisturize you skin as soon as you can. Use something without fragrance if possible. Aloe is great for that although it feels quite heavy and slimy.

I agree with the tip about using aloe vera gel It's wonderful for burns. Be sure you use pure aloe gel and not lotion as they only contain a small amount of aloe. Apply frequently. Good luck.

I always use Vitamin E in the capsule form on sunburns.

If I peel off the dry skin, will my face scar?

Editor's Note: Wait until the skin underneath is completely healed and the dry skin will come off easily. Do not force it or it could scar.

I got burnt a lot. I was sitting in the sun for about 6 hours but the thing is it was only a 24 degree day and it was very windy so I didn't realize the damage I was doing to myself.

Now I'm all peeling and it's brown, pink and white! I wonder if it'll scar?

I have sensitive skin towards the sun and UV rays, but I just recently found out my skin is a lot more sensitive then I had previously thought, because I'm working as a cart pusher and I got sun burnt, I was like ok in 3-4 days. I'll start peeling like I normally do. Well 5 days later, I'm back out working 10 am-7 pm took my break as normal or work and about 30 mins. from my lunch I noticed blisters and darker areas of red which the skin is really tight and hurts bad, tho rest of my burns, the pain is all gone except those few areas of really tight skin.

I got sunburned on my chin. Its not peeled or anything its just my skin is lighter on my chin than my whole face, in other words my chin is lighter than my skin color. How should I treat this?

My whole left side got severely burned. It is very hard and tight. I've done everything from Apple cider vinegar to reapplied applications of aloe.

Nothing is working. It's still tight and hard like leather. I'm afraid I severely damaged my skin. It almost looks like I aged 40 years. (

Oh my face got so burnt on the weekend. Now I'm going to work everyday hiding away, covering myself, it's the worst feeling! It's been 3 days now I think it's getting better. My skin is starting to get slight tight I've been moisturizing heaps. I hope I don't peel.

How cool is it that you are still getting solutions for your sunburn nore than ten years later? I'm looking for a solution to mine because I'm fourteen and now look like I'm forty! I'm allergic to aloe vera because life, apparently, hates me. I also have really sensitive skin. It's been over a week and my arms and legs have healed but my face is still red, dry, painful and ridiculously tight. I have a circle of pale skin around my mouth which looks very odd. I can't even wear makeup to cover it because none of mine looks good on dry skin because mine is usually soft so I don't buy special makeup for dry skin. I have tried a lot of the remedies above and nothing is working! Help!!!
