Cheddar Rounds (Crackers)

  • 1 cup finely grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt or for flavor may substitute 1 tsp. tamari soy sauce
  • Ad

  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper or cayenne pepper
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup wheat flour

Mix cheese, butter, salt, and pepper. Work enough flour in by hand to form a stiff dough. If it gets too dry add a few drops of cold water. Shape the dough into small balls. Place on oiled cookie sheet. Flatten balls and bake 5-8 minutes at 400 degrees F. Watch closely as you do not want them to overbake. Try one at 5 minutes, remember they will continue to cook some after coming out of the oven.

This sounds interesting and very easy. A good one to have little ones make. I think they would enjoy making their own crackers.

Reminds me of a cracker recipe that I used in a cooking class a long time ago...I'll have to look it up and see if I still have a copy of it somewhere. It had cream cheese, butter, flour, salt and whatever else. We made them to go with French Onion Soup and they were very nice. Very easy too.

Thank you LatrTatr (I crack up at that name. Love it) Julia in Boca Raton, FL
