What type sealer or spray can you use on hydrangea plants after they are dried out?

I use a coating of regular spray paint in the desired color. They last until next season when you will have other dried ones to use. For no color, I use spray varnish
Believe it or not, hair spray, aerosol if you can find it and firm hold; cheaper the better.
