What is the best product to use for toilet bowl refreshing for long lasting scent? I don't like the drop-in.

We've just had a water meter put in and have decided not to flush the toilet every time it's used (just for the fluids not the solids). Is there anything that we can make to put down the toilet to stop any smells that may occur?
