Snickers Fruit Salad

This is a variation of fruit salad with a surprise. It is a holiday favorite with my family. It is also extremely easy and reasonably inexpensive.

Ingredients:

  • 1 small container Cool Whip
  • 2 cans of chunky mixed fruit, chilled
  • 1 or 2 large apples, peeled, cored, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1 or 2 bananas, sliced
  • Approximately 2 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 2 Snickers candy bars (cut into small pieces)

Directions:

Drain cans of chilled mixed fruit (try to remove as much excess juice as possible without damaging fruit), pour into large bowl, add apple pieces, sliced banana, snickers candy pieces, and marshmallows. Fold in Cool Whip, let stand in fridge for approximately 30 minutes to allow flavors to marry, stir before serving.

If I have company who has not had this before, they are usually pleasantly surprised when they bite into a piece of the candy bar.

Note: Be sure to only make what you think will be eaten the first day as this recipe does not stay well after the second day.
