Avocado Hummus in bowlThis alternative to the usual hummus has quickly become my favourite version. It is mostly a swap out using avocados instead of tahini. It's great because I rarely have tahini in my house. This is a super creamy protein-packed snack that goes great with pita bread, veggies, or as a spread in a sandwich.

Prep Time: 7 minutes

Total Time: 7 minutes

Yield: 6-8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 avocados
  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 Tbsp lemon or lime juice
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
Avocado Hummus ingredients
 

Steps:

  1. Place all ingredients in a food processor or blender and pulse for a few minutes. Scrape down sides a couple times during this process.
  2. Avocado and garbanzo beans in food processor
     
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and garnish with mint, if you like. Enjoy!

Off topic, but sometimes I use a bit of peanut butter and some sesame oil as a substitute for tahini. :)
