Cause of Frequent Appliance Failures in New House?

I just moved into a newly renovated house and have had what I think are electrical issues. I installed two security cameras - one in the front of the house and one in the back. The backyard camera has failed twice where it won't turn on and I'm now on my third, whereas the front camera is fine.

I also had a brand new vacuum cleaner blow out while in use, which tripped the electrical socket that my washing machine was connected to.

This morning my new Samsung dishwasher started blinking on and off by itself. I turned off the power to it for a minute and then turned it on again at the breaker, and now it won't turn on at all.

Now I have a problem with my Roku suddenly not working. It's only a year old.

I feel like this frequent failure of electrical appliances is due to some wiring issue although I can't really be sure since most of my appliances are fine (seemingly). I called a few electricians who said for $200 they will test the voltage out of my sockets, but couldn't really do much else.

I'm worried about having to replace thousands of dollars worth of appliances and looking for tips on any troubleshooting I can do myself?

Is it worth installing surge protectors in all of my sockets as a precautionary measure?

Could it be that the electrical box needs an upgrade? Or could it be something more sinister like faulty wiring throughout our new house?

Thanks!

I know two houses that have had serious fires from diy electrical projects. It sounds like you have a serious issue. Spend the money and get it fixed right.

Electricity is not something to mess with. Yes, $200 is expensive, but sometimes safely has to come first! Let me know what they say. Good luck!!!!

Thanks, I completely agree that $200 is worth spending. My only hesitation is that the electricians said they would just test the voltage, which we already did and it's quite normal.

I'm trying to figure out what else could be going wrong in case others have ideas because electricians are just taking my money to eventually say everything is fine when I know it's not!

I guess I am very fortunate that we have been working with the same electrician for 20+ years. He is very honest and listens carefully to issues. He has worked for my family and all of my friends and everyone gives him the same 2 thumbs up! I wish I could share him with you...if you are in Pittsburgh, I can give you the recommendation.

Have you asked around to friends and family to see who they trust? That is how we found our guy and I thank

Who renovated the home? If you had it inspected before you bought it, the electrical issue should have been caught. If not, you should go to the lawyer who handled the real estate transaction.

The seller should sell you a home in good working condition.

It was a developer, who may nor may not be easy to find. If it turns out to be major I will definitely at least try to claim some of it.
