Choosing Color and Style of Window Treatment?

I have two windows and a sliding glass door in our great room. The floor is a medium gray, walls are beige and lt aqua. Living room furniture is dark brown leather. Dining room is marble with glass insert with silver trim. We have a round rug in the living area with green, burgundy, and beige.

I wonder if valances would brighten it up or if I should go with sheers that could be used on windows and slider. Any ideas would be so very much appreciated!
