Dog Not Feeling Well After Having Puppies?

My Pit just had 13 puppies. She started off really well, but starting today she doesn't want to go anywhere near then. She's had diarrhea and just wants to sleep away from the pups. I'm sure a lot has to do with exhaustion, but if anyone else has any other ideas please let me know. We plan to take her to the vet on Monday if she doesn't change.

She may have an infection from the delivery. I would have her checked out sooner rather than later.

Thank you for your advice. She ended up getting up the next day jumping and running around like nothing happened. I took her to the vet just in case and she said it was more than likely exhaustion from trying to feed all of them.

All puppies are doing good just having to give extra attention to one which is the runt. But all are eating and growing good. Again, thank you for the advice.

I agree. She needs to get to the vet ASAP! Her babies are depending on her so getting her healthy is important for everyone! If she is I'll you would not want it to infect the pups. Will send up lots of of prayers for a full and speedy recovery! Let us know how she is doing!

Get her to the Vet right away. By waiting to see if things clear on their own you give infection a chance to take hold in a dog that is already stressed. I would hate to see you bottle raising 13 puppies.

You are going to need mom in good shape. She may have retained some placenta and that can cause a very serious infection very quickly. It can be life threatening.
