Duck Laid Eggs in Yard?

There are ducks in my backyard and they come every year, but this year they laid eggs. She laid one yesterday and one today. But there's no nest and they're scattered everywhere. Did she abandon them? Should I move them?

She has not aonded the eggs and it normally takes several days for the duck to lay all the eggs before they sit on the eggs. Ducks can lay the eggs in the yard, then build their nest, and after move the eggs to the nest. You just need to sit and wait to see what happens. Normally it can take up to a week for the duck to lay all the eggs before they sit on the nest. If you want to move the eggs right now is a good time because you can still use them to eat or cook with.

My younger brother raised ducks for a long time and he would gather up the eggs within one or two days and use them for cooking in his home. Many people think this is wrong but if the eggs just sit there and the mother does not come back they will start to rot and begin to smell badly.

I would wait at most a week before moving them, if your intention is to have the duck come back to nest some more.
