Finding Free US Census Records?

Several years ago I was working on my family tree and I discovered the US Census records. It was free. Now I have no idea how to find it. Every place online leads me to places like Ancestry.com, Family Tree.com or other websites that charge a fee. Can you give me a link to the site? Thanks.

Try familysearch.org. It is free and I don't know how what they have for free census records. I pay for Ancestry.com, and use that and familysearch.org, because I am really working on my genealogy project.

Your local library may have a subscription for Ancestry.com and you can use it for free. Otherwise, you will have to visit your state archives, but that may not always be convenient.

I do genealogical research on my family as well, but cannot afford to keep an ongoing paid subscription with Ancestry, especially when I keep hitting brick walls.
