Permanent dye may fade, but will never come out. That's why it's called permanent.
Hair grows about 1/2 inch a month. It will grow about 6 inches a year. Therefore, it will take a couple of years to grow out your hair if you like it longer.

it totally depends on how fast your hair grows... the dye will fade a bit over time but it willhave to grow out to be totally grown ... one thing you might do if your dye is dramatic from your own color, is to use a rinse until all the permanent grows out

it took me six years for my hair to grow back to shoulder-length from the time I got a crew cut. That's about how long it would take for the new, non-tainted hair to grow out.

You can use hair dye stripper and remove the dye that way.
