Help Getting School Clothes and Supplies?

I'm a single mom now because of domestic violence on me. I had to start over with 5 kids that need clothes and shoes for school. I'm looking for work, but I'm too scared to go too far from home because of his family and friends threatening me. What can I do for help getting school clothing and supplies?

Speak to the principal and school social worker and guidance counselors. They have a lot of resources for you.

You can contact your local Salvation Army, ask church, neighborhood, family/friends. Do contact your Childs school and let them know your situation - many will help.

Do you have a women's shelter in your town?

I would go there and ask for assistance for everything you need including ways to keep you safe. First and foremost, you and your kids need to be safe and have all protections and systems in place that are available. Your local women's shelter can point you in the right direction.

They often have social workers who can help you set up things like Protection from Abuse orders and have protocols to help you deal with people who are harassing you.

If you don't have a formal shelter in your town, ask around at your local churches, synagogues, and mosques and find out if they have programs. Most do and they can guide you on next steps. Some may even be able to help with your children's school needs.

If you do not have those kind of resources, do you have a primary care doctor or a clinic where you take your children. Many of these offices have resources that can help also.

Please, please please, find a safe source and ask for help.

Stay strong! You are worthy of happiness and safety. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

Sending up prayers you and your children. Please post back with an update.
