If no one here knows, put it in a plastic bag and take it to anyplace that sells pesticides. They can identify it for you and sell you the correct pesticide

This bug resembles the common black roach but the pictures are blurry and you cannot see the antennas or legs as they are on a living bug. These are how you identify many bugs.

You do not say how large these are, or how many you are seeing and where they are seen and all of this helps to identify them.

If you see another one and can take a picture (dead is okay) of a complete bug (looking down on the top side of the bug so legs can be seen).
You can also send pictures to your local extension office as they are more familiar with bugs in your area and how to get rid of them.

It looks like a 'cockroach' or 'palmetto bug'. There are a couple that this one favors. Either an 'American' or a 'Smokey Brown'. There's more info and photos: kids.niehs.nih.gov/.../index.htm

It's definitely not a cockroach. In the photos, the wings, eyes and abdomen, like those of flies, are clearly distinguishable.

This is a black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) www.invasive.org/.../subthumb.cfm?sub=7939&cat=103

The black soldier flies only have two wings (wasps have four) and does not possess a stinger. Although the loud buzzing they create when flying is enough to concern many people, adult soldier flies pose no danger.
The black soldier flies only live for about 5-8 days.
