He is a beautiful dog.

  • You will need to take the puppy to the vet for his shots.
  • In doing so you can ask your vet if he can do a DNA test on your dog. This is the only way to know if the dog is pure breed or mixed breed.
  • The vet could charge a lot of money for this test. So before doing the test find out the cost.
  • If it is too expensive you can order a home DNA test online or many local pet stores now sell this test.
  • Buy the test and go home and do the test.
  • This will tell you if the dog is pure breed or not.

Pit Bulls ears come in all shapes and sizes, although they should be fairly small and rose-shaped ideally. That doesn't mean they are always going to look like that.

I would see how he grows into them, or else get a DNA test.

It is nice that you have pictures of his mother and father but did you actually see the parents? I'm only asking as I volunteer with a pet facility and we are always hearing stories about how they were tricked with photos of supposedly the parents and the photos were "fake" so I hope that did not happen in your case.

  • Your puppy is really cute and has already developed a sweet personality at this young age.
  • How and where you purchased him will have a lot to do with how accurate/honest the sellers were.

  • Your puppy will soon need his health check-up and start his shots/vaccinations so that would be a good time to ask his vet about the breeding.
  • Puppies change rapidly in their first year so keep photos of the changes for future smiles.
  • Anyone trying to give an opinion of a pure bred will only be giving guesses (even vets) so if you really want to know then a DNA test is the only sure way.
  • DNA test kits cost $50 to $250 and can be purchased at pet stores, on-line (Amazon, eBay, PetSmart, etc), and from your vet.
  • Here is a link that explains about DNA tests and also a sample site to purchase a kit.

Please be sure to take this baby to the vet soon so he will will have a good healthy start.
Here is a site that has a list and information about a puppy's first year.
