January 17, 2006
Italian Beef SandwichIngredients
  • 1 3-lb. boneless chuck steak, cut 3/4 inch thick
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 tsp. instant beef bouillon
  • 1 tsp. leaf oregano

  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • 3 drops Tabasco sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Directions

Place steak in slow cooker. Add onion and water. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or until tender. Or simmer in a covered pan on top of stove or in 325 degree F oven for 2 to 3 hours or until meat is tender. When tender, remove beef and reserve broth and onion. With two forks, shred beef by pulling apart into fine pieces. Return to slow cooker and add remaining ingredients and cook for an hour in the slow cooker or 14-20 minutes on the stove top on med.-high.

These are great sandwiches! I recommend slow cooking the roast in the crock pot for use in this recipe so it will be extra moist and tender.
