Living Room Wall Color?

We just purchased a house in which the living and dining room are painted a really nice beige color. We just purchased a couch that is roughly the same color as the walls. Should we paint the walls a darker color than the couch? Or is it OK to have them roughly the same color?

I would find a really nice throw and some pretty pillows. Often accent colors are nice to draw the line. Or yes, you can paint an accent wall just a shade darker. I hope that helps. PBP

The real question here is if you like the look of the couch in the room the way it is. If you do, fine. I agree with the other poster that a nice throw and accent pillows might be enough colour.

Or, you could use a lot of pictures/paintings/artwork on your walls to liven things up.
