This a brilliant idea for a simple but indulgent gift for a very special person. You don't need to be a good cook and you don't have to be artistic to be able to make these tasty treats. Use plastic disposable spoons if you like, but what is really nice is if you can find some fancy vintage spoons in a second hand store.

  • 1 spoon
  • 2-3 squares of chocolate
  • edible decorations
  • 1 thin book
  • 1 cellophane bag
  • 1 short length of ribbon
  • 1 short length of cord
  • 1 label

  1. Rest your spoons on the thin book to keep them level.
  2. Melt the chocolate - about 2-4 squares per spoon - either over a bowl of hot water or 30 seconds at a time in the microwave.
  3. Spoon the chocolate into the spoons.

  5. Decorate with edible decorations before the chocolate hardens.
  6. Once the chocolate has set, tap to remove any excess sprinkles.

  8. Wrap in the cellophane with the ribbon. Write instructions on the label and tie in place with the cord.
  9. To use, stir into a teacup of hot milk.

  • chocolate chips
  • mini marshmallows
  • multi-colored sprinkles
  • plastic spoons

Melt the chips in the microwave. Pour some into the bowl of a spoon. Press some marshmallows into the chocolate. Add a dash of sprinkles. Let sit overnight in a cool place. These are easier to make one at a time so the chocolate won't harden before you can press the marshmallows in.

Variation: use white chocolate, crushed candy canes, and chocolate sprinkles.

This is a good way to use up leftover bits of this and that. Put several in a plastic bag and tie with a pretty ribbon. Makes a nice little gift by itself or with a coffee mug.

Source: This recipe is my own. I came up with it one night when I needed some little Christmas gifts and had nothing but little bits left in my kitchen.

I've seen a similar version of this before. Can used crushed candies such as red hots or cinnamon discs, butterscotch or peppermint hard candies, instead of the marshmallows. Can be used for coffees, hot chocolate, etc. Wrap & decorate for whatever the occasion. Give as gifts or sell at bake sales.

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, white baking chips, or mint chocolate chips
  • 18-24 plastic spoons
  • candy decorations such as crushed peppermints, miniature chocolate chips, or candy sprinkles

  1. Melt chocolate in saucepan over lowest heat possible, stirring constantly.
  2. Dip spoons into melted chocolate, coating only the bowl of each spoon (this can be repeated as many times as you'd like).
  3. Sprinkle with decorations.
  4. Place on waxed paper until chocolate is set.
  5. Wrap spoons in plastic wrap or cellophane and if you'd like, tie a little ribbon around the spoon.

These spoons are great to just munch on or stir your hot chocolate.

Take a small plastic or clay pot and add a handful of these with the handle down. It makes a great gift.

These are good for coffee or cocoa gifts. Buy a package of sturdy plastic spoons, preferably in festive colors. Dip them in chocolate (melted chocolate chips work well) and shake off the excess. Place them on wax paper and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candy.

My sister-in-law makes these, and they sell them at school events to raise money for the parochial school where her son is enrolled. She says they "sell like hotcakes." Suggested price: 2 for $1.
