My grandchildren love to put cinnamon sugar on their toast. So they can easily make it themselves and there is less mess, I keep a salt shaker filled with the mixture by the toaster. I usually mix together 1 Tbsp. cinnamon and 1/2 cup sugar.

Keep powdered sugar in a salt shaker or a spice bottle to make sprinkling on cakes and French toast an easy thing to do.

Cinnamon is so good in my coffee (plus nutmeg and some cocoa!) for a designer coffee taste-a-like. But one of my cinnamon spice jars came without a shaker on top and we always forgot and dumped too much into the cup. Ugh. So my clever husband just put some aluminum foil on top and punched some holes in it to make a shaker of sorts. Works just fine and no more over-spiced coffee.
For sprinkling cinnamon sugar on food, I use an empty spice jar. I fill it with the mix and use it also on pancakes, cakes, and rice.
To make a shaker for cinnamon/sugar or powdered sugar use an old jar and punch holes in the lid with a nail.
