Upcycled Tie Necklace - creator wearing the tie necklaceI originally started upcycling my dad's ties when I'd realized I'd made a poor fashion choice when getting him one for Father's Day. Now, I upcycle them so I can continue his own stylish legacy, with his permission, of course! Dad's one of my favourite people and I love to wear things he no longer wears. With a few stitches, his ties become my fashion statements.

I added a snap button on this so I don't have to pull it over my head when I put it on. I often wear large beehive type hairdos and don't want to ruffle them up!

Total Time: 90 minutes

Yield: 1 necklace

Supplies:

  • 1 necktie
  • sewing pins
  • needle and thread
  • 1 large button
  • 1 snap button

Thanks so much, Betty! Seeing my dad's eyes light up when I wore it was such a gift. It's one of our favourite pieces now :)
