Miniatures Crocheting Advice and Patterns?

My mother-in-law creates little miniature scenes in small boxes; think doll house sized items. She is wanting some scarfs, hats, and sweaters for her little people to wear. I'm assuming I would need to use embroidery floss and a very small steel needle. Any other advice or maybe a place to find patterns?

Read through this for info on crocheting miniatures:

miniatures.about.com/.../Miniature-Crochet-Hooks-And-Threads...

The crochet pages at that site are really good too, lots of free patterns for thread crochet she can adapt-the filet patterns are likely going to be best for adaptation:

She could use the smallest patterns she could find (Barbie Doll clothes?) with sewing thread and the smallest size steel hook. Crocheters do not use a "needle".
