I just received my Swifter Wet Jet through Amazon. It was brand new in the box. I put it together & it's not working. We tried everything, but nothing worked. Now I am wondering if the handle all the way down has to be put in a certain way for it to work? I hate to return it if maybe I can get it to work. Any ideas?

Worse case scenario if it doesn't work out, Amazon is great with their refunds ~ just a bit of a hassle hoping a product will work upon arrival. Could also be a defective one!
If it is new, return it to Amazon and get a new one.
I bought a new Swiffer, put it together, nothing. Screwed around trying all the tricks, still nothing.
I took a close look at the battery compartment (2 batteries). one of the contacts that would make contact with the connector inside the handle was bent so that it did not make a connection. Using a small screwdriver, I bent it outward to match the other one, put it back in, works fine.
