I have a damaged patch on an old mahogany table caused by the seller dropping a nail polish removal patch on to the table top. It has stripped the polished finish down to the bare wood about 3 inches x 1 inch, elliptical in shape.
I want to know how to fill and hide this damage please.

Since you live in the U.K., try Topps scratch cover, a little at a time and allow to dry between layers. I had a very noticeable scratch which I managed to cover completely. It has some sort of oil in it that nourishes the wood and blends well with the color since you can choose between light, medium or dark wood covers.
