Removing Blood Stains on a Quilt?

My teenage granddaughter spent the weekend with me and left me with my most loved quilt stained with blood. I'm not talking about just a little bit of blood, it is a extra large area of blood. I didn't know it was on the quilt until after it was already dry. I wanted to cry, but would never hurt her feelings. I told her it's fine and that I would find a way to get it out. All I had at home was Max strength Spray and Wash. I sprayed it really good with that and it did absolutely nothing. So, do yall think I can rinse just that area in cold water, let it dry and then try the peroxide?

Try hydrogen peroxide in an inconspicuous place. If it is ok, pour it over the stain. Soak for 5-10 minutes, then rinse in cold water. Repeat until it is removed.

Hydrogen peroxide works really well for removing bloodstains. So does salt. You can try to apply some salt with water to the stain and allow it to sit on it for a time.

Then add it to your wash and add some more salt in the wash. This works good too.

Are you hesitant to wash the quilt in cold water? I've never had any problems getting blood stains out if I soak something in cold water and wash it right away. Stain Stick is good for that, too.

We did have a "guest" last year who got blood on our sheets (after he donated plasma) in the guest room, but instead of soaking them in cold water right away, he balled them up and tossed them in the corner for about a month before we "invited" him to leave.

I found out that if you leave blood that long, the stain is very hard to remove. I finally got it out with peroxide, but it took the color from the sheet, too.

Drying will make it more difficult but peroxide and blue Dawn usually does the trick for me.
Rub Dawn into the spot and then add hydrogen peroxide and let it rest a few minutes - maybe 10-15 minutes - and then run clear water to remove the peroxide.

It would be better if you could lay the quilt of over something so you could run clear water over the spot.
It may take more than one time as the dryer has 'set' the blood.
