Removing Dye Transfers from Clothing?

I accidentally washed my orange pants with dark colored clothes. How do I get the stain out?

Please help.

Are the pants cotton?

You have the best chance of success if they are cotton by just soaking them in a bucket with 1 cup of baking soda, 2 cups vinegar, 1 tablespoon of plain blue dawn dish soap and a 1/2 cap of Tide and enough warm water to cover the item.

SWISH to get it mixed in well. Soak for an hour or so, check for the progress and repeat until it all comes out. Once the stains are gone, you can run it through a regular load.

While you are going through this process. DO NOT dry the pants in the dryer. The dryer will set the stains.

If they are a blend and if they have any rayon in them, removing the color is going to be almost impossible. You can try the cocktail above, but it is very challenging to remove colors from blended fabrics.

I hope that Pghgirl's formula will work for you but she is absolutely correct about mixed fabrics.
Even if there is only a small percentage of another fabric all to often it will cause problems or do nothing at all.

Some people recommend color grabber but this will not work in your case.
Color grabber is for putting in the wash before you have a color run to keep your problem from happening.

If all else fails, you can try a product caller 'Color Run Remover' but read all directions and follow them for your type of fabric.
This is very safe to use and will probably work if you have not put your orange pants in the dryer. It may work if you have dried them but, in any case, it will not harm your pants.

You can buy Color Run Remover at most Walmart, Target type stores or online.

I've done this a few times over the years, and if it's any consolation, the dye will eventually fade.

Try the things that people have suggested and see if you can't make the stains go away. Stain Stick might help. Don't dry, as people have said, but you'll find the stains will fade with time.

When I was first married, and learning, I accidentally washed a hot pink bath mat in with my husband's underwear. He had tighty pinkies for a few months.

Then I intentionally washed a maroon tablecloth with an off-white one, using Color Grabber. While CG may work, it won't work THAT well, ;). The result was a tablecloth that was a pearly pink, which was lovely, but after a few washings, it was off-white again.
