Removing Rotten Potato Smell from a Kitchen Cabinet?

A bag of potatoes liquified in my kitchen cabinet which has a particle board interior. Stinky! Of course it stained the interior slightly. The real problem is the smell! I wiped it down with vinegar. Then I left coffee grounds in a cup (both non brewed & brewed) in for a few days. Neither seem to help. Lastly, I've left baking soda in a cup in it. Is there anything else you can recommend? The smell is putrid!

There is a product called Nok-Out. You saturate the surface thoroughly and the odors are neutralized. It is highly rated. You can buy it on Amazon.

If you have an air purifier, you may want to run that in the room overnight for a few days.

Activated charcoal in the cabinet may help. Walmart sells it, at least they do online as do some pet stores.

It is the same principal as baking soda...you leave it in the jar in the spot and it absorbs smells.

I have done this before with onions and feel your pain. Sometimes it just takes time for the smell to wear away.

rotten potato smell is the WORST. I've been lucky that even when the potatotes were at their worst the smell did not linger

there must be something bout the particle board that is not preventing the smell from leaving

how about leaving the drawer out in the sun for a few days?

also have you tried a good enzymatic cleaner? Some organic smells (especially 'pet odours') only respond to enzymes that break down the stink molecules

Delicately scented bay leaves (not those sold in small expensive bottles at grocery stores but the ones found in big plastic bottles for low cost at discount stores or sold in plastic bags at farmers markets) - strew the dried leaves about the shelf or shelves - they have a delicate scent and can be left in drawers or trunks of clothing as well. And you can add them to pots of soup or stews.
