There are government agencies that help low income families, however, they are often difficult to find. A very easy online search for "home repair low income family" produced many responses. You can try a search yourself and this very helpful federal government site:

we are grandma and 9 year old grandson that live in a house with only 1 room that has heat i have 2 space heaters but very exp.to run we need help! have tried .i applied for help in Aug.with community base service turned in everything they ask for .i go to check at least 1 month all they say is if your bill goes down is how if you are going to get help .don't no what to do .afraid pipes going to freeze before we can get help .please we need help .live in ky
