A few local thrift stores have special "senior" Tuesdays when they offer an additional 30% off store-wide to those of us "better than 50ish". I take advantage of the discount and if I find something which I can use (particularly to flip or re-sell), I am already in advantageous status with the percentage off and the resale vs. retail price.
Next step it to post it on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace to test the waters of its interest. I have turned around a number of items (clothing, knick-knacks, crafts, furniture) and have saved even more by purchasing on the discount day.
