Riding Mower Won't Start After Hitting Something?

I hit something while using my Craftsman riding lawnmower. Now it won't start. It sounds like it tries to start. Is there something I should check before calling the repair guy?

HItting something and causing it not to start usually means a major metal part has been bent or knocked out-- I'd call a service place
