You do not say if this is a new machine to you or if not then how long has it been since you used it?
Be sure to check all connections to the wall and to the machine first as sometimes the cord wiggles loose from the machines.
If you're familiar with taking things like this apart then you might want to try some of the suggestions.

You may need to join one or more of the typewriter forums to see if some of the members can help you. You may need their help as they know what questions to ask to get you started down the right path.

If no help on these you might want to consider taking it to your Sears Service Center as they will sometimes check out a machine to see what parts are needed and they may be able to order anything you need or if you need service they can usually do it.
Call them first as some are not open during this virus.

This typewriter is really simple to work on and not hard to fix at all. The outer shell removes from the unit and makes it easy to see your problem. From the sound of this, you could have a broken wire that is not making contact, a power switch that is bad and needs replacing, or a problem with the motor.

Try and get some contact cleaner and spray this on the switch should help. If you hear a sizzling noise it means the switch is working. If this is the case the contact cleaner will allow you to move the switch back and forth several times to make the contact. Right now your switch is not making contact.

There are a few things that may be the issue. You may need to reset the ribbon, there may be loose wires, a bad switch, the cord may need to be replaced, or it has a faulty power supply. If the machine hasn't been cleaned in awhile, when you have the cover off, you may want to use contact cleaner for the switch and all connections.

Here's the manual for your machine, which may help also:

This sounds like a classic sticky broken spring clutch and also needing a re-lube , where over time parts get build up and dirty , needing a cleaning . There is typewriter oil/cleaner for your machine. These things hinder the power to your machine. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcvA1cPpQvc - www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0bPCAK8tUo
