Sofa Color Advice?

My husband and I recently bought a house that needs a lot of work. Our living room has these beautiful red curtains. I would like to keep these. The carpets are green and badly need replacing and the walls have wallpaper which also needs replacing because of lots of holes from previous owners pictures. We haven't bought any furniture yet. I was thinking of painting the walls a cream color with a beige carpet, but don't know what color sofa or furniture I should get. Also, is the cream color and beige carpet a good choice? I am not very good with colors and would appreciate any advice.

Something you might find helpful is a color scheme generator, you basically pick a starting color and it will generate 4 or more colors that match that color well creating a color scheme. You only choose the ones you like discard the ones you dont and it will replace them with other options. I will include a link below to a very easy and simple one to use that i was able to find below. To answer your question directly though I think a soft grey would be pretty. www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web...
