Silver Post Medal for All Time! 293 Posts This is a fun and versatile pattern. What could you use it for? You could simply make a bunch of these babies and join them to make a blanket. Or, you could make this a centerpiece of your blanket and simply continue adding rounds of double crochet until it is your desired size. I even thought about using cotton yarn, adding only 1 more round of double crochet and ending up with a pretty dishcloth.
Whatever you do with it, have fun!:)
Total Time: About a half hour
Supplies:
- "I" crochet hook
- tiny amounts worsted weight #4 yarn
Steps:
- Ch 5, join with a slip stitch to your first ch to make a circle.
- Ch 10
- Work a sc in your circle
- Ch 10
- Work a sc in your circle
- Ch 10
- Work a sc in your circle
- Ch 10
- Work a sc in your circle
- Slip stitch in the loop directly to your left
- Work 5 half double crochet (hdc) in that same loop
- Work 1 dc
- Ch 3
- Slip stitch in the top of your dc here
- Picot made
- 5 hdc
- Slip stitch
- Slip stitch in the next loop
- Continue working each loop in the same manner until you have worked every loop.
- End off this color.
- You will now join your coordinating color with a slip stitch directly to the left of any picot, ch 2, 1 dc in each of the next 3 stitches
- Work a dc dec in the next stitch and in the 4th stitch from where you are presently
- Dc in the next 4 stitches
- Ch 3
- Simply working around your picot, dc in the next 4 stitches
- Dc dec in the next stitch and in the 4th stitch from where you are presently, dc in the next 4 stitches
- Ch 3, dc in the next 4 stitches, dc dec in the next stitch and in the 4th stitch from where you are presently
- Dc in the next 4 stitches, ch 3, dc in the next 4 stitches
- Dc dec in the next stitch and in the 4th stitch from where you are presently, dc in the next 4 stitches, ch 3,
- Slip stitch in the top of your ch 2 and fasten off.
- Join your alternating color with a slip stitch where you just fastened off, ch 2, dc in the next 8 stitches
- Work 2 dc, ch 2, 2dc in the ch space, dc in the next 9 stitches
- Shell (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the ch space, dc in the next 9 stitches
- Shell in the next space, dc in the next 9 stitches, shell in the last ch space. **You could end here and have a 6" square.
- **If you want to continue on and have a 7" square, end off with the color from the last round and join your coordinating color with a slip sitch in the space you just fastened off, ch 2, work 1 dc in each dc, shell in each ch space. Fasten off.
- Weave in those ends!:)
