Beagle...maybe with a little Basset Hound mixed in for good measure.
How and when did you get your pet?
This is my fur sister, Suzy (I call her Suzy Q). She is my mom's fur daughter and best friend! She was adopted in 2011 from a shelter east of Pittsburgh. Sadly, around our area, Beagles that can't hunt (or breed good hunters) frequently end up in shelters. We think this is what happened with her. She had just had pups when she came into our world. They all were adopted before her and she looked so sad when we met her.
What does your pet like to do for fun?
Suzy is a sweet girl, definitely not a hunter, unless she is hunting for food. She is very food driven. She loves to be loved, to eat, and to have people admire her. When my mom walks her, everyone knows Suzy and their walks are often interrupted numerous times for someone to pat Suzy on the head and she gives them a kiss in return. Suzy has no interest in toys, just loves, loves, loves people! Especially her mom (my mom).
Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
As any Beagle owner knows, these are not dogs for everyone. Cute as cute can be, they make some people crazy as they have a Beagley-smell, shed a lot, howl occasionally, and if left to their own devices they will dig under or jump over fences, hot on the scent of something usually food related. If you can live with their idiosyncrasies, are willing to keep them on a leash when outside, give them some TLC, and work with them, you will be rewarded with a loving fur child (and loving fur sister). Suzy and my mom love to share snacks and take long walks on nice days! They make a great pair!
My goal is to have Suzy win this contest so she can complete the trifecta of winning hounds in our family! My late Dachshund girly girl, Carmel and my current Dachshund boy, Clarence were past winners! Suzy would love a chance to win the crown for the hounds and make my mom proud!
