Troubleshooting a George Foreman Grill

Hello all! Hope you are healthy and safe! I have a George Foreman grill, GRP4842. When I plug it in, it lights up. But pressing power does nothing. Zip, zilch, nada. Have tried pressing the other buttons as well. Any suggestions?

Your first step is to check your power outlet and make sure the grill power cord is plugged in tightly and that it is attached to the grill. Push on this and make sure that you have it pushed in all the way. A lot of time if you have other appliances on the same outlet this will not allow the grill to turn on or even power up. Try removing all other appliances from the outlet and check again. You can try to plug in a lamp to the same outlet as the grill.

Turn on the lamp and now plug in the grill. See if the lamp dims when you try and power on the grill. If this happen then the outlet is not getting enough power to run this grill correctly. If this is not happening it can be the plug for the grill or even the grill itself that has the issue. If this is the case you can try to buy a new power cord for the grill or take the grill to a repair shop and have it tested.

It is the same outlet I use for my Instant Pot so I assume, since that works fine, it gets enough power. It seems like it might be in the "button" that turns it on ...

it is not feeling the press even though it is lit up.

You may have to take it apart to replace the button but you should have an experienced person help with this.
If you have a Sears service center in your area (and they are still open) I would suggest you take it to their service department and ask for help. Ask if they can tell you what part to buy and do not leave it to be serviced if they do not help you. Sometimes they fix things on the spot and only charge a small fee.
A phone call will probably not help you.

You may be able to get help from the George Foreman site:

My grill would turn on, then immediately turn off. I opened up my grill and found several wires with nicks in the insulation. I covered all that I could find with electrical tape. My grill is now working again!
