George Foreman Grill Keeps Shutting Off?

I am having a problem with my George Foreman Grill GRP4842RB. When I try to turn on the grill it automatically shuts off, especially if I put it on sears (500F). Can it be repaired?

You might have a short in it. My experience has been that it is cheaper to get another one at a thrift store or yard sale than to fix that one.

In order to fix or repair this, you'll need the replacement parts. This sounds like an electrical short in your unit. I'm not sure if they do or don't sell the replacement units. Your best bet is to visit the website for George Foreman and check out what type of replacement parts they have.

This is a great company and they are so willing to help anyone out. You can even contact their customer service to ask them to help you locate the right part to fix your grill. They will answer you almost immediately and they are always happy to help out.

It would be very unusual to find this model grill at a thrift store as it is one of the most expensive type grills.

  • I do not know how long you have been using your grill so maybe it does need replacing but if that is the case, I think you may have to "bite the bullet" and buy a new one.

  • You may be able to get a better answer if you contact the George Foreman web site and ask them the question before deciding to toss it.
  • Try this link:
  • Some people get good answers from their local Sears repair and parts shop so you might want to give them a call (you did not have to had bought it from Sears).
  • Just Google Sears repair with your zip code and you should find an address.

Good luck, I hope it is just a minor repair as these are really nice grills.

I would contact their customer service and ask for their suggestion.

This happened to me too!! My grill is only 14 months old. My previous grill lasted several years. Foreman overreached with this model, sad to say.
