Value of Drop Leaf Dining Table and Chairs?

Value of Drop Leaf Dining Table and Chairs - old table with drop sidesI have kept my grandma's old extendable dining room table and 6 chairs hoping I would use them properly, but my home doesn't fit them in. I occasionally use the table, but it is always covered with a table cloth. Any ideas of what they are worth? I am thinking of selling them. It feels like such a waste of lovely old furniture.

It depends on who the manufacturer is and how old it is. There is no demand for this kind of furniture in my area. That may not be the case in all areas. Look on the underside of the table and chairs for identifying markings.

Hi! I love the table. It looks like an old gate leg table. Those are quite valuable...depending on the brand and where you are located.

It may be my computer resolution, but to me it does not appear the chairs are an exact match to the wood color.

If this is the case and they are NOT a matched set, that will impact the value.

I suggest having a reputable antique dealer look at your table and give you the value in your area. I have seen them sell (NOT ASKING PRICES--people can ask anything they want, but these are sold prices from a variety of source) from the low $200 into the low $900s...depending on the brand and the condition--this is just for the tables alone.

If you chairs were a match (mahogany), would add more to that...but I am not sure how much to tell you because I cannot get a good bead on their condition.

If the chairs are not a match, I would have to do more research on them to see if they have any value on their own. I was more focused on the table--which is a great find. These are very popular in places where people have small spaces and want something that can fold down and have multiple uses. I think that is why so many sell on their own (meaning without chairs).

Post back what you learn from a dealer. It is truly the best way to sell valuable furniture as you will get more than you would if you tried to sell it on your own AND you don't have the muss and fuss of people traipsing in and out of your home! Thanks for sharing!
