Water in Door Seal of Maytag Washer?

My Maytag Maxima xl washer has a bunch of water in the door seal after completing the wash cycle. Any thoughts?

My machine does the same thing - bit of extra work, really, but to keep mould from growing I mop it up with a clean tea towel. So far doing this seems to have prevented those infamous front load washing machine bad odours, too.
