I found myself on a rather unsatisfying thrifting adventure today when at my last stop I decided to look at the CPK dolls just for fun. This little gem was shoved all the way to the back of the shelf and marked $5.99, so I took a gamble and bought her.
Certain dolls, such as some Baldies, Red Fuzzies & some of the other very early Coleco dolls bring over $100, and even some pre-Cabbage Patch Xavier Roberts dolls can bring over $1,000, most dolls sell for $10 to $30 and have not changed much from the original retail price.
I have a Cabbage Patch Kid doll from 1976-1982. It's a vintage collectors blue eyed bald baby doll with birth certificate, very rare. How much is it worth?
Cabbage Patch Kids were the brainchildren of Xavier Roberts, who originally sold the hand-crafted "Little People" though his nascent corporation, Original Appalachian Artworks, with the help of four other artists. In 1976, Xavier Roberts met Martha Nelson Thomas at a craft fair. As a 21 year old art student, Xavier Roberts rediscovers "needle molding" a German technique for fabric sculpture from the early 1800s. Combining his interest in sculpture with the quilting skills passed down from his mother, Xavier creates his first soft-sculptures. He asked Martha Nelson Thomas to supply him with dolls to sell in Georgia, where he lived and worked Thomas briefly let him sell her Doll Babies, but stopped. Thomas sued Roberts and won an undisclosed amount after the case was settled out of court. Roberts traveled from state to state in the southeastern United States attending craft fairs and folk art exhibitions. At them, he began selling these Chinese crafted dolls. Roberts created his own version in 1978 (source "Custody fight over Cabbage Patch dolls". Christian Science Monitor. 1983-12-12. Retrieved 2020-04-17.) He won awards for his work, including a first-place ribbon for a doll named Dexter at the Osceola Craft Show in Florida in 1978. Roberts sold the license to Coleco in 1982 and when Cabbage Patch Kids made their debut in 1983, they became the most popular toy fad of the year, and one of the most popular in all of the '80s.
You have described your doll as a "blue eyed bald baby doll". Here is a doll similar to your description: Cabbage Patch Kid Baby Boy Bald No Hair Blue Eyes, but this is a 1985 doll (the license was already sold to Coleco at the time), price $ 24.99 www.ebay.com/
I found 1978, 1982 ORIGINAL APPALACHIAN ARTWORKS CABBAGE PATCH KIDS www.worthpoint.com/
Since you indicate the year 1976, 1982, a small number of such dolls (Original Appalachian Artworks) were produced during this period, so this is a really rare doll and its price should be higher? maybe $50. "The very first Cabbage Patch Kids (called Little People) had soft bodies and large thumbs. Later versions had plastic bodies and regular sized digits. Older dolls also had woollen hair as opposed to the synthetic strands on newer versions. And not all of them are worth hundreds of dollars but some definitely are." www.bhg.com.au/
I have twin 1985 red head Cabbage Patch dolls never taken out of the box signed and with adoption papers. The box has some damage. How much are they worth?
These dolls appear to be the same and are listed @ $169:
www.ebay.com/
I have the red haired green eyed girl with the green signature on her rear. The date is 1978, 1982. There are no clothes or box.
She has a very clean soft body. Does it have any value? If she had her original outfit, box, (NOT REMOVED FROM IT), and certificate, she may fetch $15. Without those items, they are selling (SOLD prices) for less than $10.
It used to be the red haired, green eyed CPK were more valuable than the others, but the recent glut on the market (thank you Marie Kondo) has really brought the values down so much.
ok thanks so much for your reply.
Some people still think these dolls are "gold" but sadly it is a very rare sale that is over $25-$50 and most sales are under $20. All doll sales are very slow and Cabbage Patch dolls are so plentiful it would take a major miracle for even 10% of the listed dolls to sell by Christmas.
Here is the link for redheads on eBay so you can place a watch on any you wish to track to see if they sell. You will see several listings for very high numbers but if you check you will find these are almost always listed by new inexperienced sellers who are dreaming of riches that will not happen.
Many of this type seller will have 0-20 feedback and just do not understand the market. Still - strange things happen....

Check the sold listings for an exact doll and that may be the current value.

Fun facts:
www.newsday.com/
It does not have value. Only the original Xavier Roberts ones that are signed do.
Sadly these dolls were worth more when they first came out! Everyone had to have one! These dolls went up in the $100's the first Christmas and even the next year! Now you would be lucky to get up to $50 for a excellent condition doll. This one not the best condition, Good Luck!
When these dolls first came out every little girl wanted one even mine. They were so hard to find and if you were lucky to get to the store when they first came in the price was way too expensive and I couldn't afford one. I worked in Mexico at the time and down there I was able to get one for my daugher at a fraction of the price they sold in the US. My daughter was 16 when she decided it was time to sell hers off. I do believe she received around $150 for all the things she had. There were 6 dolls, a stroller, car set and a lot of other things she had collected over the years. I know she had a horse that she refused to sell and still has it today.
Today people are selling these for as low as $10 and as high as $50. The resale value is not so good considering the popularity of the dolls when they first came out.
I have a 1983 Coleco Cabbage Patch Kid doll named is Stephen Elwin. It is brand new in the box, with the birth certificate and everything, but the front plastic.
It is very rare. How much is it worth?Only the original signed Xavier Roberts ones are expensive. This one is not.
It's signed
Some of the 1983 Kids are selling for fair money but if you check eBay listings you will find over 28,000 Cabbage Patch dolls and accessories listed with asking prices all over the board. Some are ridiculous and others may be okay for the particular doll listed.
There are very few really rare dolls and the highly collectable ones will usually have an almost perfect box as this is important to people paying high prices.
eBay doll listings and more will be added every day until Christmas.
www.ebay.com/
A high number have been sold (over 7,000) over the past several months but most of the paid prices are in the $15-$30 bracket.
www.ebay.com/
I did not find a Steven but that is not unusual due to the many thousand dolls that were produced.
If you believe your doll is rare then I would suggest you list him at $100 or more and see what happens - someone may know more than we do and he may be one of the more valuable ones.
Be sure to take several very good pictures of the doll and tags.
Also check true shipping costs so you will not be surprised if they are incorrect.
Research the sold dolls and copy some of the style of the better listings.
You can also list him on local sites like Craigslist, LetGo, OfferUp and many more and you can list him as pick up only with shipping cost involved.
Good luck - I hope he is one of the valuable ones.
The doll is in great condition but the box is not. Many people who pay a higher price for these dolls want a box that is in good condition. Plus there are a lot of these dolls on the market right now for sale. The ones that people look for are the ones that were signed by the maker of the doll. You might be able to list this on Criaigslist for $25. I would suggest selling this at a swap meet or even a yard sale. That was how we sold the ones my daugher had when she finally out grew them.
Your little guys has sold prices between 8 and 35 dollars. The 8 is without the box. The 35 is a pristine box, untouched doll. Yours should fetch in between because the celling missing.
Post back how your sale goes.
I acquired this Original Cabbage Patch Kids Designer Line doll by Xavier Roberts, from a tenant. I'm not able to find it online anywhere. Anyone had any idea of the value?
I am not sure but with the condition of that box it will not be as much as your quoted.
Is he for sale? I would say he worth $40 plus shipping considering his box is almost gone.
Let me know if you want to sell him. I'm interested in adopting him :)
I have 6 cabbage patch dolls looking to sell all of them.
I feel it would be worth more being it its more rare being it wouldn't have sold in racist time just a thought but I could be wrong
I feel it would be worth more being its more rare being it wouldn't have sold in more racist times just a thought but I could be wrong but honest
I've had this CPD for a long time now. I just don't have a birth certificate or box for it. But it does have its original clothing. It honestly just popped out of nowhere. It's in pretty good condition and I can clean it if I find somewhere to sell it.
I tried Googling information, but I figured this could be more helpful. Thank you in advance for your advice. There are a lot of these dolls on the market. The best ones in boxes and never opened got between $10 and $25 . You could try to sell her at a yard sale for a better price to save on shipping cost!
I have six different Cabbage Patch dolls from 1984-1985. They are all in the original boxes and have never been opened.
I need to sell them, but am lost on how to price them. Can anyone help? This one is asking $20. www.ebay.com/
You have an interesting one in that mix--the 1985 one has Japanese writing on the front. Do you know the history of it?
There were some that were only sold in Japan and they are fetching from $50 to $500. That may be a valuable one--but you would need to do a lot more research on it. What kind of outfit is it wearing....I made it bigger, but can't quite tell what it is wearing...a sweat suit?
What is the blonde girl from 1984 wearing? Does she have a pacifier? I can't see what is blocking her face ...a ribbon?
Typically the blonde hair /blue eyes don't fetch much...but there are a few that fetch more...but I would need to know more about what she is wearing and what her face looks like--if there is a pacifier or any accessories with her--also what is her name?
The infant (bald one) is the least valuable of the lot. They sell on average of $15. A few sell for up to $25, but since your box has damage, that drops the price significantly.
eBay is the best place to sell these...but I will tell you with the new DIM mailing at the USPS, it may make the shipping so expensive that it will deter buyers.
If you have a store that specializes in vintage items in your town, you may get more there for them and avoid the whole shipping thing.
Post back with more info on the dolls and I can see if I can get you more info!! Fun find!!
In 1982 Coleco was given the right to produce Little People under a new name, Cabbage Patch Kids.
Of course, the first dolls 'Little People" are usually still the most valuable but there were thousands of each style doll made from 1983 and on so most of these will not be very valuable.
That said; you cannot lump these into one category or value until research is done on each individual doll.
Although many of the same style dolls were produced, there were also small differences in some and these can make a difference in value.
You may have to go to a CPK or doll forum to find out about the 1985 Kid that was made in Japan. He appears to be wearing a 'sport' sweat band and jogging/running clothes and could be valuable - or more valuable than your other Kids.
There appears to be several sites on Facebook but you'll have to ask your questions and post a picture (better/clearer than the one shown here).
Here are some links you can check out.

here is link showing some Japanese dolls sold on eBay over the past several months:

I'm not sure whether anyone on this site can help with these as they are more into vintage and antique dolls but it would not hurt to ask about the Japanese doll.
Here is a link to Cabbage Patch doll history.

I am hoping to determine the value of these dolls.
