I work at a Seamstress shop and we get a lot of grease stains out with ease out. Sold at Fabricville and maybe other material and craft stores. I've seen it get grease out of garments previously sent out to dry cleaners. This may help.

Shampoo was a massive help! Thank you so much @rforbes! I used Tresseme too! I got garlic bread greese on some chinos, and from what I can tell it's almost totally gone! If I do it again, I reckon it'll be completely gone! :D

Most likely you are talking about butter stains and these can be very difficult to remove - especially from a delicate fabric.

  • If it is a fresh stain you may be able to remove most of the stain with baby powder or baking soda.

  • If the stain is already set then you might try a dish washing soap (like grease cutting Dawn).
  • Lay garment with stain showing (only one layer of cloth) on clean towel and apply liquid soap. Rub in with a toothbrush and let sit for about 30 minutes.
  • Run under hot to hotter water (whatever your fabric can take) until all soap is removed.
  • It may take more than once to completely remove the stain. Then wash (delicate garment should be washed in a lingerie garment bag) in warm water.
  • Check to be sure stain is gone before placing in dryer.
  • Stains can sometimes be removed if placed in the sun (on top of a clean white towel) by keeping garment wet and moving to different clean places on the towel.
  • Here is a link that gives full directions for any of these treatments.

Depends on type of material, but dawn really is a miracle worker! Just dap a little on, massage it in and let it set for a little while and wash as usual.

I have had great success using Shout Advanced is the squeeze spray bottle. Spray it, let it sit overnight and then wash it in cold water and see if it takes care of the problem.

Do not dry it in a dryer or use hot water until you have removed the stain. Hot anything will set the stain permanently.

Apply a liquid dish soap as Dawn to the spot and allow it to soak in. A little water may speed the process. Then launder the shirt. Do not add additional soap as you will have a mountain of suds. It may take a couple of treatments to remove all the oil, but I have always had success.

I use Shout for this type of stain. A cirtus cleaner made from orange peel also works well on Grease stains. Best to treat before laundering if you can.

I have a couple oily stains, from having sat on something, and now I have spots of red Gatorade on the front of them. I just bought a few pairs of Calvin Klein performance yoga pants and sweatpants so I'm freaking out on how to keep them looking more fresh than worn.

A friend of mine said to fill a bucket with lukewarm water and some Awesome cleaner and soak the sweatpants for a minute or less and they should be as good as new. Will this process damage the material let alone the sweatpants altogether?

Some people do swear by Awesome cleaner, but be careful using it if the items are mostly rayon as it can weaken the fibers.

For the all of the stains, you may have better luck soaking the items in a bucket of cold water with 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup peroxide, 1 cup warm water (shake this up in a clean glass jar then add it to the bucket of COLD water--the warm water is to dissolve the baking soda).

BEFORE you pour it all into the bucket--rub some of the mix into each stain, THEN add the rest to the bucket and swish.

You may need to repeat this several times.

If that does not work on the Gatorade stain, you can FIRST rub regular blue Dawn dish soap into that stain, THEN soak in the mix above (which is an home made oxi clean solution).

Last thing to try is if none of this works, see if you can found Zout cleaner at Walmart. It is very expensive, but it works well on tough stains. Follow the instructions on the bottle to soak/wash your items.

Hope you find success with one of these methods!

Blue Dawn removes many stains. You can also use Stain Stick along with it.

Believe it or not Lysol will clean so many stains it is amazing. You can put some on the stain and rub it in. Another great stain remover you can make on your own is baking soda and peroxide.

For hard to remove stains on all my clothes, I use a product that you buy in the laundry aisle called, Calgon, and I mix a lid full of that mixed with a half cup of white vinegar to my laundry detergent and throw it in the wash and they come out very clean and stain free.

My husband was given a really nice heavy pair of coveralls, but they are covered everywhere with stains. I'm not sure what kind, but it looks like grease and oil. Is there a product that I can soak them in to get rid of some of the stains? Thanks.

This is a page about removing grease stains on lace clothing. Lace clothing can be rather delicate, making stain removal a bit chancy.
