We always have to buy those expensive fire starter logs for camping. I had the idea to save our dryer lint and stuff it inside our empty toilet paper rolls. It's free and you never run out of it. It is very easy to catch on fire.

Right now, the cabinet fronts of the kitchen are coming off, I mean literally falling off! So I moved my food to the dresser where I keep my dishes for now. Not wanting to take them all out to find just one, I marked them on the top. This helped me and I hope it will help you.

Tip: Snack Plastic Bag as Sandwich Pocket

I keep a box of Snack Plastic Bags handy. They are only about 6 x 3 inches - just the right size to fit the bottom of your sandwich in. The mess is all in the bottom of the plastic bag!

Trash Can for Laundry Detergent StorageI have just added a plastic flip top trash can, to my laundry area. It holds two big boxes of dry laundry powder. Makes it very easy to open the lid and fill the cup with soap for the washer.

Save on Halloween CandyThis will be the 3rd - 4th year we'll be giving out candy canes, using last year's after Christmas sale candy. The expiration dates on the boxes are late October 2015 - 2017.

Yogurt Containers for CraftingI have been doing a lot of paper gluing and then covering the objects with a solution of glue and water. The yogurt containers are perfect for mixing the glue with water in small amounts.

Storing CheeseTo keep cheese fresh, upon arriving home from the market take out the cheese and wrap first in wax paper and use tape to make it snug. Then wrap in plastic wrap.

Egg Shell UsesFirst, I rinse my shells and place them on an aluminum pan on top of my toaster. Then I crush them up and use them mixed into my birdseed in my bird feeders. Birds NEED the calcium for their digestive processing in their gizzards and to produce their own eggs!

Storing Appliances in a Tiny KitchenI have a tiny kitchen which lacks cabinet and counter space, which we are working on adding in the future. For now, I put the electric skillet, toaster, juicer, and popcorn maker on top of the fridge.

Homemade Fly TrapTake any jar and squirt some jelly inside. Put a funnel in the jar. Some flies will go into the jar through the funnel and some will hang around the outside lid of the jar. Vacuum the outside flies, then lift the funnel a bit....

Store Empty Containers in FreezerI like to freeze many of the vegetables from our garden, however I don't have cabinet space to store the empty containers. My solution to this dilemma is wash and dry the empty containers...

Recycled Candles From Wax MelterWhen the melts lose their scent, I pour them in a glass candle jar that is almost empty. I put the wick over a pencil or piece of incense and hang it over an empty jar. This is where all the wax from the warmer gets poured when it doesn't smell as strong anymore.

Avoiding Confusion with Common Flower NamesThere are probably ten different flowers for which people use the common name 'Angel Trumpet', including 'Datura', 'Brugmansia' and several lilies including 'Crinum'. When they say 'Angel' or 'Devil Trumpet', I never know which flower they mean. In this case, I think it's best to call datura by the easy to pronounce botanical name.

Hairspray for Removing Nail Polish from CarpetI knocked over a container of nail polishes onto my light blue bedroom carpet. Needless to say some of them broke; hot pinks, lime greens, etc. After I blotted up what I could with a napkin, I used a bottle of liquid hairspray, a brush, and after scrubbing a bit it came out in no time.

Resealing Frozen VegetablesWhen I open a bag of corn, I use my scissors and cut across the top of the bag, leaving enough that I can use it to tie my bag up with it. The other thing I use is leftover twisty ties.

Use Vaseline to Remove Paint from LeatherI've just removed eggshell white paint from my leather sofa by rubbing in petroleum jelly (Vaseline). I left it for a few minutes, then gently rubbed with a wet nail brush and it started coming off! Happy me!

Wipe Down Library BooksWhen I get books from the library, I use a spray bottle with vinegar and spray the book and wipe it down with a paper towel. The vinegar kills germs and you can see a lot of dirt removed on the paper towel.

Using Margarine Tubs for LeftoversThis little 8 ounce container has really come in handy for me. Being flexible, rectangular shape and having a lid make it the perfect container for me to use for freezing turnip salad in a serving size for the two of us. I am so glad that I did not put these containers in the recycling bin.

Stuffing Your Thanksgiving TurkeyI still like to put my stuffing directly into the turkey cavity. My mother did it for years and so have I and it's perfectly safe. No one has ever gotten ill from this. However, scooping the stuffing out can be quite messy.
