Shopping for Comfortable Scrubs?

Silver Post Medal for All Time! 364 Posts

I need scrubs that are comfy, stretchy, lightweight, breathable, and 1X or XL in size. Evidently this involves cotton, spandex, lycra and who knows what else. I bought some by Peaches that are beautifully made, but they keep me too warm for these record breaking summer months.

I've seen sewing patterns, but these call for broadcloth type fabrics which wouldn't give when worn. These scrubs are not going to be worn in a situation where body fluids are present, so I don't have to be concerned with disinfecting. Suggestions?

Thanks

Hi, have you tried finding what you need on eBay? You can always ask questions about the material if it is not listed in the sellers ads.
Good luck.

A not-too-light knit should work if you take care not to stretch it while sewing it.

They separate them at thrift shops, so don't pass them up!

If you are going to sew some scrubs, you can substitute a woven fabric with a bit of stretch (spandex) for the broadcloth. Also look for pajama patterns you can modify a bit that call for stretch knit, then use a knit with spandex in it (recovers its shape better than cotton or cotton blend without spandex).

Also, send me a message if you would like a link to a store that sells all kinds of scrubs, not sure I can post a web address on here.
