Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups English walnuts
  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1 jar candied orange peel, chopped
  • 8 oz. red cherries
  • 4 oz. green cherries

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

Mix the first 5 ingredients together in a large bowl. Sift the dry ingredients over them and mix well. Beat the eggs and vanilla. Blend thoroughly into flour and fruit mixture. Spoon into greased tube pan or individual loaves. Bake in slow oven (300 degrees F) for 2 hours or until firm on top. (Small loaves will be done in about 40-45 minutes.)
