Put yeast and 1 tsp. sugar in warm water. Set aside. Mix boiling water and oatmeal. Let stand 2 minutes. Add 1/4 cup sugar, shortening, salt and molasses. Mix. Add 3 cups flour and raisins. Slowly add remaining 2 1/2 cups flour. You may not need last 1/2 cup. Knead until smooth and elastic. Put in greased bowl. Let rise 1 hour. Punch down. Let rise another 10 minutes. Form into loaves. Let loaves rise until double in size. Bake at 350-375 degrees F. until brown approximately 40-45 minutes.
