Orange French Toast


  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 8 slices French or Italian bread
  • Ad
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine

Orange Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, opt.


Beat first 6 ingredients until combined. In a 9x13 inch pan, arrange bread slices. Pour egg mixture over bread and cover. Refrigerate 2-24 hours. To bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place butter in another 9x13 inch pan and place in oven just until butter is melted. Place bread in single layer on melted butter. Bake 20 minutes. Serve immediately with orange syrup.

Orange Syrup: In saucepan, combine butter, sugar and orange juice. Cook and stir over low heat until butter is melted. Do not boil. Cook 10 minutes and beat with rotary beater until slightly thick. Stir in pecans, if desired.
