Honestly whoever posted about the iron is my new hero! We had a fruit punch spill on hotel room carpet, and tried everything else. This was the only thing that actually worked ad probably saved us a huge bill from our stay. Thank you!

The steam iron works. Don't mix too much Dawn with water - about 10 parts water to 1 Dawn, Can take color out of carpet. To recolor go to hobby/craft shop and buy color pen inks (like a sharpie) One brand is Prismacolor. They're used to color cloth craft projects. Will need several color combo's to match rug and "clear blender" color to blend. Lasts about two years on rug even with rug cleaner.

This really works. My kids had a red stain and an orange stain on the carpet from Hugs drinks. I soaked the stain with water and dish detergent and placed a white towel over it and used a hot steam iron on top of the towel. I had to repeat this more than once. It takes time but the stain got lighter and lighter. I'm so excited that something finally worked!

Hooray! Thank you for this nifty trick! My niece's friends spilled red Gatorade on my mother's beige carpet (when the knew drinks were forbidden in the family room!) and hid it with blankets for a day. The hot iron, water and white cotton rags and an hour's worth of time took that stain out completely! I did put a paste of Biz enzymes on it for a day beforehand, which I think helped some, but next time I will just use the iron and rags.

It is simply amazing how fast it works. I did the same thing last night steam cleaning the carpet and using stain remover for about an hour. I thought it was gone, but this morning when I woke up I saw the stain. I put water on the carpet and then put a white towel and then ironed over the stain and it was gone just like magic. Thank you

EUREKA it works! OMG! I've tried for years to remove red koolaid stains from my beige carpet and was NEVER successful until now! It works! As previously stated, it takes time patience, and monitoring of the iron, but it works! Now I'm working on ALL the stains that I have discovered. Thank you whoever thought of this, it works! Just remember to wet the cloth, monitor the the iron on the stain and keep it no higher than medium. Bev.

Wow...thank you all so much. The iron and Dawn really worked. I used stain removers etc. I thought I had it out but then the next day, there is the "red" stain, still there. I tried the iron and Dawn method, I put the water with Dawn directly on the carpet, then covered with white cotton dish towel, then ironed after several times of doing this...then WA LA, my stain is gone. I am absolutely thrilled!

I not sure what just happen, but putting a WET TOWEL over the red koo-laid stain and ironing it actually worked. I also did wet the stain itself. At first I was cautious not to burn carpet, but the more heat applied the better it brought out stain. Unbelievable, I tried dawn and resolve triple action first with little luck. Thanks to the person behind this idea.

I used the iron and sprayed it with grease lightning prior and let it set for 15 minutes. It all came out! And it was a 4 hour old koolaid stain! I am so amazed! It took about 15 minutes of the iron over the towel trick, but it worked and every little bit came out! Thanks!

I read the posts on removing koolaid but since I already had tried water, spray and wash and oxyclean the carpet had been treated. Blotting out the water wasn't removing the stain so I tried the iron with a cotton dishtowel and plenty of water. It removed quite a bit of the stain but not all so I added more water and dawn. I steamed and blotted for quite a while and eventually the big red stain vanished. I think dawn, water and the ironing method is the best of all I tried.

I scrubbed for hours with stain removers, I used a steam cleaner, and it didn't work. I tried this and within 30 minutes the Hawaiian punch stain is now gone. Thank God, I would have had to pay the landlord for this stain.

Wow. I found out about 3-4 years ago that I had a Hawaiian Punch stain underneath my toy chest and never told anybody. Today I wet the spot, covered it with a towel, and ironed it. Now it's gone! Expectant for that nasty sweet smell that rises with the steam, it's the perfect fix!

I tried the iron over a damp towel it worked pretty good. So I wet the carpet where the stain was, and did the iron/towel thing. It works either way .I'm so glad I found this out because this stain would have cost me a new carpet.

My husband spilled red KoolAid on my white carpet. We called several professional carpet cleaners who all claimed there was no help for the stain. A friend found this website and forwarded it on a few weeks later. We tried the dawn dishsoap and boiling water methods and vacuumed up the water with our steam cleaner. It worked! Our carpet looks like new again. Maybe I'll share this trick with the "professionals."

My 4 year old spilled red kool aid on my almost white carpet and then hid it! I didn't find it until the next day and it was dry. I mixed a little dawn dish soap with water, and soaked the stain. Then I put a damp towel over it and pressed my hot iron to it. I did this whole process over and over at least 10 times and worked on it for an hour, but slowly it began to work. now I can hardly tell where the spill was.

My son just spilled red Koolaid on our carpeting and I need help removing it. Any suggestions?

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet
I just spilled a red berry wine cooler on a carpet that is an antique white color. I read all of the posts here. The stain was 5+ hours old, as the cat had jumped on the table during the night bumping the half full glass of the table. Anyway, I used two methods. It took over two hours.
I used the boiling water method and alternated it with the dawn liquid method.
I poured the boiling water as instructed in the posts and used a Bissell home carpet/upholstery vac to vacuum it up. Then I'd put the dawn/water mixture (two shot glasses dawn to 3 cups water) and let it soak and blot. Then more boiling water and vacuum water and then more dawn and so forth for one hour, the stain is almost indistinguishable now.

Here's an article with a bunch of stain tips in it...
Stain Tip
Cherry popsicles are a favorite treat except when they land in your lap. Mix a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and cool water. Spray on and let it set 30 minutes. Rinse with a vinegar and water solution. It may take a treatment or two but it comes out. Peroxide is bleach, so always test a spot first.
This is for clothing but I have seen similar solutions for carpet. You will definately want to test this on a remnant first. (04/22/2004)

Try Spray and Wash. It works great on tar and red wine so it might work on koolaid. I use a vegetable brush to scrub it up after I spray it. (04/23/2004)

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet
Don't know if this would work on koolaid but you could give it a try. I have great luck getting stains off of carpet and furniture with baby wipes. Just rub the spot. If it is dry I would wet it with some vinegar first. (04/28/2004)

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet
Take a bowl of water and pour a very little ammonia in the bowl and then take a brush ( srcubbing brush w.a handle ) dip in the mixture and then scrub carpet really good. Then get a white towel and you will see the dirt form the carpet. (08/04/2005)

I was a daycare provider about 4 years ago and the steam iron trick worked great for me too on most liquid stains, especially kool-aid. I would wet the stain pretty good and then use an old towel over it. Hit it with the iron and watch the stain disappear. (08/05/2005)

The iron trick really works. My daughter spilled her fruit punch all over the floor and I tried everything to get it up right away and nothing worked. We have an apartment so I had to get the stain out because I didn't want to pay for a new carpet. The steam trick really works but it does take a while to do it. Just get a wet towel and put the iron on top and go back and forth until the stain is gone. Good luck! (06/09/2006)

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet
I found the wetting the carpet and using a towel and hot iron works well. Some tips on this - one, it seems to work the Best when its the less traveled over carpet (like on the edges of the room etc) - it picks it Right up then. Really traveled sections it Almost took all the red out - but it was a definite improvement. Also - be sure to Wet the carpet down pretty well - and i dont think you need to wet the towel, as it will pickup the steam very quickly. At first i just wet the towel, but that didnt work well. Also - i havent tried doing a combo of hydrogen peroxide mixed in the water, and the iron/towel trick - that might be better. Thanks though - this really helped me out. (08/29/2006)

RE: Koolaid Stain out of Carpet
I have many older and newer red koolaid or Hawaiian Punch stains on our light sand colored carpet. I tried the advice of using a wet white cloth, wet carpet and steam iron. To my amazement, the steam lifted the stain - old and new. For a heavy red drink stain, it took about 8 repeated steamings to get it out. I left the iron on the cloth for about 2 minutes each time. To me, it's a miracle! I am going to try it on other difficult stains. (09/03/2006)

Wow! Can I just say that we live in military housing and for those of you who have lived in housing, if you have any stain or anything that is wrong, you get charged an arm and a leg! Our oldest daughter spilled koolaid back in October and we haven't been able to get it out at all! I got on this website and read about doing the dish soap, water, and iron and it came out! Took a couple tries, but the carpet is tan and it looks really good! The military would have charged us over $700 to replace the carpet! Thanks for the advice! (03/19/2007)
