Dog Peeing and Pooping on Floor?

My 9 year old dog has been peeing and pooping inside within half an hour of being indoors, for the past 3 months. She had previously been house trained and never had a problem. Please advise; I'm at the end of my tether.

Your first step is a visit to the vet to make sure there is nothing physically wrong

This has been going on for three months. There has been some sort of change in the dog's routine.

  • First, determine if you have made any changes in your dog's routine.
  • Did you move recently?
  • Did a member of your household move out?
  • Did a new member move into your house?
  • Did you recently loose a pet?
  • If you can answer any of these qestions it will make it easier to understand why your dog is peeing and pooping in your home.

  • Next, you will need to visit the vet and have the dog checked. There could be a health issue thta you can't not see.
  • If you don't have any health issue you will need to re-house break your dog again.
  • When you take your dog for walks make sure you take long enough walks to give the dog plenty of time to go to the bathroom
  • If you put your dog out in the yard, go outside and sit with the dog to make sure he is going to the bathroom in the yard.
  • You might need to put down puppy pad for awhile until you can get the dog to go back outside to use the bathroom.
  • When you aren't home, you might need to confine the dog to a small area in your home and put down a few puppy pad for them to use.
  • You basically are teaching your dog to go back outside to the bathroom.
  • This can happen if your dog has had a change in their daily routine.
  • You will need to clean the areas where your dog is using for the toilet so they can no longer smell urine or poop in this area.
