Donating Fabric?

Where can I donate unwanted fabric that you can make something out of? I live in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

You can check with Assisted Living facilities in your area. They could use the fabric for craft activities with the residents. A senior adult center might also be interested in a donation of fabric. Goodwill, Salvation Army and other chairitable donation sites accept donations of useable fabric.

There is a neat store I have been wanting to go to that sells fabric in the historic district...www.mainstreetmartinsburg.com/.../

A friend who lived not far told me about it...I assume they are still around. Perhaps they can hook you up with churches or animal shelters who use the fabric to make quilts for charity. That would be awesome karma!!

There are several worthwhile charities in your area but you should probably make a few phone calls before loading up your fabrics so you will know which one you like best.

  • I have always like this one (if they have a chapter in your area).
  • There are always good non-profit thrift stores in any area and most of them do good charitable work. Usually, any kind of fabric is a welcome item.

  • I generally donate to a Hospice Thrift Store if one is in my area but others are good also. I rarely donate to Goodwill.
  • here is another one to check out:

Project Linus makes quilts and afghans for children in hospitals or disasters, etc, and accept donated fabric or yarn. Check online for the nearest chapter.
