Double Tip Drawing Pen Dried Out?

My double tip pen which is dried out just stopped working. I am sad because I use it for all of my drawings and now I can't. What can I do?

If you have an alcohol-based marker, just soaking the tip in alcohol can help it out.

If you have a water-based marker, doing it in warm water.

If it's a pigment/paint marker, try acetone or nail polish remover. You might try acetone regardless of the make of the markers.

These things can extend the life of the marker

The markers will always tell you what they consist of
If the tip became warped or misshapen, you can shave some of the messedup part with an exacto knife

Dip your markers in rubbing for a few seconds. This should revive them. Then learn how to inject new ink.

Centrifugal force is yet another way to revive your markers. You tie a string around the marker and tape it at the end. Make sure the cap is on both ends of the marker because you have a double marker.

Now go outside and swing this over your head in a circle. The centrifugal force will move the remaining ink down to the tips of the pen.

This is one method that I have never heard of but sounds like it would work - gotta try this.

This seems to be a common problem as most of us use all kinds of markers. My son takes care of mine as I use a red marker a lot and they just do not last very long and are difficult to find in just 'red' packages.

He uses the method in this video and it works like a charm.

Thanks for this video!! I am going to check it out for my own purposes. What I usually do if the items are new and wear out before I think they should, some companies are very good about replacing the markers/pens. Some are not. Its been ages since I have done this, so I am not sure if the good guys are still good and the bad guys are still bad. Point is, it never hurts to call their toll free number or email the company.

To me, these should last for several months at high quality with moderate use. I have had them where after just a few days they poof out. That isn't good and when I contact the companies.

Before I would just toss them if it was a few months (which just killed me) if they were not refillable. Now I will try this video. Looks like there is coloring time in my future again with all of this staying at home time!

Blessings and safe wishes to all!!
